FEASIBILITY STUDIES

All projects start with an idea. Through a feasibility study, an idea can start its journey to reality. A feasibility study allows an idea to be tested and challenged without a large financial commitment.

A feasibility study from Aura will help determine options and whether the preferred or optimum approach for a particular site is achievable and sustainable given the likely resources available.

We have extensive experience in the preparation and delivery of feasibility studies covering a wide range of schemes such as:

• Minor works including remodelling and refurbishments – recent projects have included the impact of remodelling discrete areas within a school to reflect a changing curriculum to providing a new layout for a new community centre highlighting better sace utilisation
• Major New Build & Refurbishment projects – recent commissions have included evaluating the benefits of a major refurbishment on an existing site against a new build project in a separate location, to the analysis of potential savings using shared site services between clients
• Master Planning – allowing the client to understand potential planning and design issues which affect land values and logistics impacting upon the development of the area

In each of these cases, we spend time with the client and the relevant stakeholders understanding specific needs, aspirations and future vision, testing and challenging ideas to make sure the project can be developed in a robust manner.

This includes exploring a wide variety of topics such as:

• Risk – covering types of procurement and the potential disruption of development to the existing client’s business and the surrounding environment
• Cost – covering both the capital cost needed to deliver the project and the ongoing revenue cost required for the project to function
• Funding – assisting the client in seeking out potential and appropriate funding, including grant applications

The completed study can then be used to demonstrate the sustainability of a project and subsequently used for capital grant applications.
